Leisure Services Assistant - Full Time

JOB DESCRIPTION: Support and/or assist activities for the residents; responsible for creating and posting resident communications, i.e TV system, invitations, posting flyers, and assisting with the monthly newsletter and creating the calendar.  Assist with resident and Marketing events, securing speakers/ or entertainment within budget restrictions.  Make room reservations and arrange for or personally setup activity area for scheduled program in cooperation with other departments.  Maintain reservation book for special programs and trips.  Prepare check request for entertainers and supplies.

 

 

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of one (1) year experience in resident activities or related field.  Must possess advanced computer skills.

 

 

EDUCATION/SKILLS/ABILITIES:  Must have the ability to read, write and speak English effectively, using proper speech and grammar.  Must have the ability to organize activities and coordinate the team effort required for an event to materialize successfully.

Assistant Director of Nursing

Assist Director of Nursing with administrative functions, supervision, directing, training, and providing direct quality resident care and assumes duties of Director of Nursing in his/her absence.

Job Responsibilities: 

Participate in the evaluation of nursing staff in relation to the delivery of patient care. 

 Assure that physician’s orders are carried out and provide support and resources to the patient care plan team. 

Supervise nursing activities and promote improvement in nursing care. 

Receive reports from nurses on each shift and work to ensure maximum total care. 

Give daily report on conditions in nursing service to DON. 

Responsible for assuring accurate recording of medications and narcotics according to policies and procedures outlined in manual. 

Participate in nursing care as needed, responsible for direct handling of emergency situations. 

Maintain accurate reports and records according to policies and procedures set forth; evaluate and make recommendations for improvements for welfare of residents. 

Coordinate and audit resident charts relating to physician order sheets, Mantoux and physician visits, etc. 

Share responsibility with DON to complete disciplinary action and employee evaluations. 

Responsible for initiation and on-going monitoring of Hepatitis B and TB education and vaccinations. 

Share responsibility with DON for orientation of new Health Center personnel. 

Coordinate nursing service with other departments.       Prepare work schedules one month in advance, posted according to established procedures. 

Share responsibility with DON to organize and attend in-service education and mandatory meeting requirements.  Conduct in-service programs, as assigned. 

Ensure supplies are available in proper quantities, equipment is available and in proper condition, and personnel using such supplies and equipment know location and proper care of equipment. 

 Assist the DON in monitoring agency, FTE, and supplies/equipment budgets.  Interpret facility’s policies and programs to staff. 

Participate in all meetings, in-services, seminars, and committees, as designated by management.

Education/Skills/Abilities: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, preferably with Bachelor Degree.  Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in State of Illinois .  Must have ability to read, write and speak English.  A broad knowledge of applicable health and nursing home regulations, and the ability to work with physicians, nurses, other health care providers, and family members to ensure quality of care standards for Residents are maintained.  Must be able to work and make appropriate decisions consistent with established policies independently without consultations.  Must be courteous, friendly, and helpful and be able to function in a team environment.  Experience in geriatric rehabilitation and restorative nursing helpful.  Previous supervisory experience desired.  Must have working knowledge of State and Federal regulations. CPR training necessary, and updated as necessary.  

 

Experience: At least two (2) years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care with leadership and management experience. Computer experience needed.
