African dancers and storytellers. A giant African millipede. A candlelit classical concert. A Titanic themed dinner and movie experience. An intergenerational LEGO challenge.
If that sounds like the lineup for a cultural center, museum, or performing arts venue, think again.
These are just a few of the experiences recently enjoyed by residents at Beacon Hill senior living community in Lombard, where the calendar is filled with opportunities to learn, explore, create, and connect.
A Celebration of Culture and Curiosity
Recently, residents were captivated by the vibrant rhythms, traditional dances, and storytelling of the Ayodele Drum and Dance performers. During the Animal Encounter portion of that same event, they came face to face with a ball python, an African parrot, African giant bullfrogs, a Madagascar hissing cockroach, a giant African millipede, and more, bringing the wonders of the natural world right to campus.
An Evening of Light and Music
Beacon Hill recently hosted a Candlelight Concert, part of a popular trend designed to make classical music more accessible and engaging. Hundreds of flameless LED candles illuminated the community’s performing arts hall, creating an intimate atmosphere that enhanced the listening experience as the Terra Trio performed romantic classical selections on piano, violin, and cello.
Stepping Into History
History enthusiasts ‘stepped aboard the Titanic’ through a unique immersive experience that paired a screening of the iconic film with a dinner inspired by the ship's menu.
A Rhythm of Daily Engagement
What stands out at Beacon Hill is the variety of experiences and the energy they create. Engagement is not occasional, but part of the rhythm of daily life.
While the events don’t fit common stereotypes about senior living, at Beacon Hill they reflect exactly what residents have come to expect and enjoy: meaningful, engaging moments that bring people together.
