When you’re choosing where to live in retirement, beautiful residences, an active social scene, and elevated dining experiences are often what grab your attention. Beyond the polished amenities and friendly smiles, however, lies something just as important: the strength and stability of the organization behind the community.
At Beacon Hill, you’ll discover more than a sophisticated place to live — you’ll become part of a community supported by Lifespace Communities, a trusted nonprofit with over 45 years of senior living expertise. Comprising over a dozen communities across the country, Lifespace brings a robust foundation of financial responsibility, reinvestment, and long-term commitment to every resident.
A Welcome That Lives Up to Its Promise
This guiding principle goes beyond words, which resident Kathy Haxton understands firsthand. After deciding it was time to leave their large colonial home, she and her husband found both a warm welcome and a surprising sense of ease at Beacon Hill.
“We moved from a two-story, four-bedroom home, and I wasn’t looking forward to packing or moving,” Kathy says. “A Beacon Hill team member told me, ‘We can do all the packing and unpacking for you!’ — which I didn’t even know was an option.”
On moving day, the couple walked into a perfectly arranged residence, complete with artwork hung, dishes put away, and closets organized exactly as requested. “We arrived at 3 p.m. with our cat and dog, and everything was just the way I wanted,” she says. “It turned out exactly how they promised — and that’s something I haven’t experienced much in my life.”
It’s this kind of follow-through, support, and personalized attention that sets Lifespace communities like Beacon Hill apart — and it’s all backed by a financially secure and mission-driven organization.
The Strength Behind the Community
As a Lifespace community, Beacon Hill benefits from decades of thoughtful planning and reinvestment. Lifespace is a promise of ongoing excellence, stability, and growth where residents enjoy the benefits of a strong infrastructure, including:
- Well-maintained campuses and modern renovations
- Life Care options that provide an innovative, predictable way to plan for future needs
- On-site wellness and enrichment opportunities
- A highly trained, supported team that treats residents like family
Through the Lifespace Foundation, generous donations from residents, families, and team members help improve daily life — from scholarships and emergency support for staff, to campus improvements and cultural programs.
When Life Got Hard, Beacon Hill Was There
For longtime resident Rita Jenzen, the decision to move to Beacon Hill was an easy one. “We had a neighbor who was a doctor. His aunt received care at the health center, and he raved about it,” she says. That reassurance mattered, especially after her husband’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
Rita cared for him in their home until it became too much. “I was living on four hours of sleep,” she says. “Our social worker gently reminded me, ‘If you get sick, he has nobody.’ That helped me make the decision to move him to memory support through Beacon Hill’s skilled nursing services — and he thrived there.”
When her husband passed, Rita was touched by the compassion shown by the Beacon Hill team. “So many team members came to say goodbye,” she says. “That made it easier, and it meant a lot.”
Today, Rita is thriving. “This is no difference than living in a condo, except we have all these benefits. I don’t have to cook. I have bus drivers who take me wherever I want — sometimes I’m the only one, and it feels like I have a private chauffeur!”
Even better, she’s formed deep friendships. “I never had sisters, but now I have friends who feel like sisters,” Rita says. “I have busy days, and that’s what keeps me going. I’m really blessed to live here. Every night, I thank the Lord that I’m here.”
